Your Celeb & Entertainment News Recap
For a four-day week, it has really been popping in Mzansi. It’s been a young minute since we gave you your celeb news recap from the week so if you’ve missed out on the celebville happenings in the last few, we got you! Grab the popcorn!
Girl of the moment, Thando Thabethe’s star continues to shine! It has to be tough fitting all you have to do in a mere 24 hours if you’re as talented as the personality is.
Thando not only hosts a drive time radio show, she also presents a TV show and acts on one of SA’s biggest soapies, Generations: The Legacy. Those who love Thando as the feisty Nolwazi Buzo on the SABC 1 soapie will be sad to learn that she has recently called it quits with the drama. After a three-year stint with the show, Thando leaves the soapie in search of “growth”.
She will, however, continue to be seen on our screen till January 2018. There is no bad blood between the actor and the soapie and the production team is said to be saddened by the departure of one of its most talented actors.
We bet you too, like us, wonder what the future holds for Thando. We’ll keep our eyes peeled and ears to the ground for you!
And in happier news, another multi-talented star, Dineo Ranaka has done the most. This Women’s Day, the Metro FM DJ bought herself a snazzy Land Rover Discovery 4.
On a video post that has since been deleted, Dineo writes a moving caption in hopes of inspiring all women to work hard for their goals and never give up on themselves.
Shout out to Dineo man! We think she’ll sure look good in that big machine.
Moving onto sad news, it appears that the country has lost yet another veteran. While Mzansi was still mourning the death of Rhythm City actor, Dumi Masilela, news of another actor who has passed away came to the fore – again sending grief throughout the country.
Legendary actor, Mary Makgatho, who, eerily, also acted on the etv soapie as Connie, died in hospital on Monday after spending weeks admitted for a fall she had last month.
I’d like to extend my heartfelt condolences to the loved ones of veteran Actress and my dear friend Mary Makgatho, who has sadly passed on. pic.twitter.com/dHkzmVz4AL

According to reports, Mary was admitted to hospital on July 10 after falling and sustaining serious injuries. She later died of medical complications resulting from the fall. Many will remember the former Rhythm City actress’ works in other dramas such as Yizo Yizo, Generation and etv’s eKasi: Our Stories.
We wish to send our deepest condolences to Mary’s friends and family.
And in happier closing news, Top Billing presenter, Roxy Burger is going to be a new mom to a baby girl y’all. The star did the big reveal on the Gram when she posted images of her and her husband, Neil Shraga, spray painted in pink at a “baby gender reveal” celebration.
The pair looked cute as ever in their pink splashed white t-shirts and Roxy captioned the photos: “How we found out we were having a girl. Here’s to raising the next generation of strong, phenomenal women. Happy Women’s Day”.
This is beyond cute and hella creative! Congratulations to the couple on the beautiful addition to their family.
And that concludes our celebrity news recap for the week. What else caught your attention? Do let us know!
