This past Friday about 30 young up and coming hip hop artists had the chance to have an intimate conference with the Grammy Award Winning Producer 9th Wonder, Rapsody and Act Proof. Titled “Women in Hip Hop Conference”, The Conference is an initiative that forms part of UPE’s Woman’s Month Celebration Concerts that took place on the 17th and 18th August at Bassline and Cape Town Zula Sound Bar. The conference aims to educate and provide knowledge about the music industry to upcoming female artists, producers and individual involved in the music industry. Although primarily focused on females, the conference was attended by men too. Speaking at the conference radio personality Lee Kasumba said that female rappers need to stop thinking that they are going to face obstacles just coz they are women, instead they should just work as hard as any guy in the industry and people will judge them based on their dopeness.
