In an exciting turn of events, the South African Music Awards (SAMAs) are set to continue their tradition of honouring and celebrating the country’s top recording artists. After recent tensions between the Recording Industry of South Africa (RiSA) and the KwaZulu-Natal government, music enthusiasts and industry professionals can breathe a sigh of relief knowing that the SAMAs will proceed as planned.
However, there is one notable change – the venue. This year, the SAMAs will be held at the SunBet Arena Time Square in Menlyn Maine, Pretoria. This decision opens up new possibilities for the awards ceremony, providing a fresh backdrop to showcase the incredible talent that South Africa has to offer.
The change in venue came about through a collaboration between RiSA and the organizers of Africa Fest, a highly anticipated music concert that embraces the vibrancy of African talent and culture. It is this partnership that paves the way for an unforgettable night of musical excellence on the 18th of November.
The festivities will kick off with the much-anticipated red carpet event at 16h00. It will be a glamorous showcase of fashion and style, as the country’s most talented musicians and industry insiders make their grand entrance. The red carpet will be a spectacle in itself, capturing the excitement and anticipation of the evening ahead.
For those who can’t attend the event in person, fear not! The red carpet affair will be aired live on SABC 1, allowing fans across the country to catch a glimpse of their favorite stars and bask in the ambiance of the occasion.
But the excitement doesn’t stop there. Following the SAMAs, a remarkable after-party awaits, courtesy of Africa Fest. This music extravaganza promises to be an experience like no other, with an incredible line-up that features some of the biggest names in the Amapiano genre.
Attendees can look forward to performances by the legendary Kabza De Small, the sensational Makhadzi, the talented DBN Gogo, the soulful Samthing Soweto, and the infectious beats of Uncle Waffles, among many others. Africa Fest is set to be a celebration of South African and African music at its finest, a testament to the incredible diversity and talent that resides on the continent.
