Adidas Consortium continues to celebrate the Torsion system technology following the recent reissued ZX 5000, 6000, 7000, and 9000 earlier this year. However the latest version of the model features iconic accents that will give wearers nostalgic feels.

For the most part, the ZX 8000 has been redone and redesigned to project the original sneakers from 30 years ago. Back then, the sneakers, which first appeared in 1989, featured padded tongue and reinforcements to significant strike zones and were a runner’s favourite given their lightweight attribute. The new version is now recreated in a very distinct shade of aqua blue which is highlighted by bright dashes of yellow and slightly more subtle purple. In order to accurately reflect the sneaker’s age, Adidas incorporated lighter, more washed out hues of aqua, yellow and purple. This gives the impression that the kicks have been sun-faded and worn in.

Like the original, the new iteration still features the popular Torsion technology that enables the front and the rear of the feet to operate and adapt to surfaces independently while still offering support and stability to the wearer. Additionally, the pair of kicks are lightweight but also reinforced in specific strike zones and finished off with a padded tongue, reflective patches and Torsion technology branding nods featured on the laces and outsoles of the shoe.

Indeed, the latest version of the Adidas ZX 8000 featured in an iconic OG colourway is a refreshing take on the originals. If you are looking to be a proud owner of these fire kicks, they will be available on 16 November at select Adidas Originals stores as well as at Shelflife Cape Town , Johannesburg and online from 9am in JHB and 10am in CPT. Prices to be confirmed closer to the time so keep an eye out.
