In order to welcome the collaboration brand Sinchui and Fuata Moyo, who showcased their gorgeous collection, African Fashion Spaces Cape Town exhibited a blend of high fashion and culture with stunning landscape and nothing less than a top-notch international production.
‘The 16th September, 2023 was an exciting prelude to what’s yet to over the next couple weeks as we rollout the few exhibition collaborations we have with some of the most exciting designers, brands and platforms associated’ said Jay Kayembe – Creative Director and co-founder of the amazing African Fashion Spaces (AFS). ‘It’s never been about following the status quo, it’s not a regular fashion show; it’s like walking through an amazing art exhibition that shows off the incredible creativity and talent in Africa through the many different lenses of culture.’
The day-night exhibition had the vibe of a New York Rooftop mixer but was held in Cape Town, South Africa, with Table Mountain on the horizon to establish the scene under the night sky. The fashion Exhibition, attended by fashion enthusiasts, designers, clients, family and friends, showcased two fantastic fashion shows that redefined the fashion scene.
Sinchui Showcase (Show 1): Mixing Street Style with Old-School Hip-Hop
Sinchui, a brand known for its bold street style and 2000s hip-hop nostalgia, showcased cool urban outfits on a rooftop runway. Models walked with a music, blending modern trends with street fashion. The music perfectly matched the collection, making the experience surreal.
Fuata Moyo Showcase (Show 2): Celebrating Our Heritage and Dreams
Fuata Moyo showcased a collection called ‘ROOTS/ROUTES’, reflecting the past and present while embracing the future. The runway was a blend of Harry Potter and Cape Town, showcasing pride in the past and excitement for the future.
DJI’s African Fashion Spaces (AFS) exhibition platform, powered by DJI, has launched its second official launch in Johannesburg 2023. The platform allows fashion creatives to experiment and push boundaries, featuring music from Fort Noks, Fozz & Shai-A, and Finessa Williams, showcasing African fashion and culture.
