AKA announced on social media that on Tuesday, 19 April he clocked 1 million followers on Twitter – making him the first South African musician to reach this milestone. AKA is the 11th most followed SA influencer. This announcement trended nationally on twitter with the hashtag #1MillionMegas with messages of support from his followers streaming in.
The multi-award winning producer, songwriter/musician AKA, born Kiernan Forbes, is a leading South African Hip-Hop giant who rose to fame after releasing the groundbreaking album Altar Ego in 2011 and has since been crowned Best Male twice at the South African Music Awards.
“Its’ great to see how much my fan base and my following has grown. These types of milestones are for the fans that have supported me unconditionally throughout the years. Being the first South African musician to cross the 1 million mark is an honor and I’m sure I won’t be the last. It’s also important to remember that the #1 priority is good music, without that, nothing would happen. It’s not about the followers… it’s about the fans and how they’ve supported my music.” says AKA.
