After the recent loss of a hero, Mama Winnie Madikizela Mandela, South Africans took to the streets to celebrate her life. Individuals were dressed in all black attires coupled with creatively wrapped doeks. Images were then shared on social media with the hashtag #AllBlackWithADoek, on Friday.
A number of people, including faces more familiar than others, participated in the celebratory trend. It was beautiful to watch.

Mama was ahead of the times. She looked sassy in these knee high platform boots, a turtle neck and a beanie – all this to go fetch water. Mama Winifred was not only a struggle icon and hero of the people, but she was a beautiful woman with a great sense of style.

We are still in awe of how she managed to stay beautiful and gracious even in her senior years. A secret we wish she would have left us.
Even in death, she managed to unite South Africa – regardless of gender, race, sexual orientation nor political standing.
Any memories you have of MamaWinnie or your looks from the hashtag, do share with us.
