On Wednesday June 5th, celebrities Anele Mdoda and Sam Cowen had a play date with the beautiful children at Cotlands in Turfontein. The day was filled with excitement as the celebrities helped the children build masterpieces with their Twinsaver Cores and Tugo blocks that will be introduced into their Toy Library later on in the year.
“When Twinsaver Luxury and Tugo invited me to spend a day at Cotlands my eyes light up. I am so passionate about these initiatives and feel that education is such an important part of every child’s life no matter their background. I previously bought a Tugo kit for my sister’s twins and saw what an amazing impact it had on them, so you can imagine how inspiring it was to see how all the children at Cotlands interacted,” says Anele.
Twinsaver Luxury have partnered with TuGo, a proudly South African construction toy to run this incredible educational campaign. The campaign aims to raise awareness about these educational toys, recycling as well as raise funds for a charitable cause. Hugh Wilson, Commercial Manager for Twinsaver, says““Twinsaver Luxury recognised the need to provide vulnerable children with access to quality toys that will help them meet their developmental milestones. To make this happen, Twinsaver luxury brought Tugo Toys on board and through various initiatives we are proudly making a difference to the lives of our children.”
TuGo is a construction set designed to help educate children through fun and creativity. The toy set aids early development by encouraging children to use their imaginations by piecing together waste products like cores, cling wrap and foil. In South Africa only 20% of children have access to structured early childhood learning toys and as a result, Cotlands opened 6 Active Learning Toy Libraries across the country. An Active Learning Toy Library is a community service that provides children, their families, community caregivers and Early Childhood Development (ECD) practitioners’ access to a collection of educational play materials or toys. These facilities are open to members of the public including families of children with and without special needs, ECD centres and schools. The main focus is on education and early development, and since opening across the country has allowed Cotlands play facilitators to offer playgroups in communities where children are not accessing any form of early childhood stimulation.
Sam adds, “I was so impressed by the Toy Libraries. All the different toys have been categorized according to age group as well as their educational purpose and the kids can take the toys out and return them as they would a library book.”
There are two (2) easy ways for people to get involved to make a difference. One such way is through their Twinsaver Luxury on pack promotion. Consumers can enter the competition by simply smsing the unique code found on the inside of the pack to 34811.
