His goal is to work with like-minded individuals and educate those who are marginalized and equip them with the necessary tools to create a better tomorrow.
Jared Rudolph AKA Jariiid is an artist from Bridgetown in Cape Town.
Jariiid believes that growing up in Bridgetown, Athlone has been an integral root system which has allowed him to branch into the unknown without fear.
He said on his blog: “Athlone is a rural suburb in Cape Town, ridden with gang violence, kidnappings, high drug consumption and very low morale, but in the same breath, the community is tight knit and the potential for greatness I feel is just around the corner.
“I grew up in an environment where there weren’t many positive role models to look up to, so I challenged myself to become one.”
Jariiid added that his style is an amalgamation of freedom and precision.
He said: “I draw inspiration from artists like Dalí and Basquiat who in their own respects pioneered emotive styles. As a self-taught artist I have found unlimited room for creating pieces outside of the norm.
“My goal is to work with like-minded individuals and educate those who are marginalized and equip them with the necessary tools to create a better tomorrow.”
Some of Jariiid’s favorite South African artists include: Blessing Ngobeni, Karabo “Poppy” Moletsane, Robyn Pretorius, Mthobisi Maphumulo and Faith 47.
