A secret agent from South Africa, Pearl Thusi, is searching for the truth about her mother’s murder while also protecting her country from dark forces.   

The release of “Queen Sono is to be the first of several African original series to premiere this year on Netflix.

A secret agent from South Africa, Pearl Thusi, is searching for the truth about her mother’s murder while also protecting her country from dark forces.  

That, in a nutshell, is the plot of “Queen Sono, Netflix’s first original African series is scheduled for release on February 28. 

The cast includes cast Vuyo Dabula as an ex-spy named Sandhu, Sechaba Morojele as Dr. Sid, director of the SOG, Chi Mhende as a SOG agent, Loyiso Madinga as a SOG agent, Rob Van Vuuren as a SOG agent, Kate Liquorish performs Ekaterina, an heiress with ulterior motives, Khathu Ramabulana as Queen’s childhood friend, William, Enhle Maphumulo as Nova, Abigail Kubekha as Mazet, Queen’s grandma, the supporting cast introduces Otto Nobel, Connie Chiume, and James Ngcobo.

Written and created by Kagiso Lediga, production took place for over eight weeks and was shot in 37 different locations across Africa, including the Johannesburg CBD, Sandton, Park Station, Soweto, Lagos, Kenya and Zanzibar.
