Comedy producers, Whacked Special Project, are thrilled to announce the big arena sequel to their 2013 hit show, “Bitches”. “Bitches Be Back” promises to kick 2016 right in the testosterone, with a refreshed cast, new material and a spectacular venue. Hosted by Anele Mdoda, with an incredible line-up including the very cream of local comedians, Tumi Morake, Celeste Ntuli, Noko Moswete, Nina Hastie and joined by explosive newcomer Thenjiwe Moseley and a special showstopper performance by DreamGirl Tracey-Lee Oliver – this magnificent collection of stand-up, sketch and singing will have you standing in your seat, celebrating the feminine spirit, body and mind. All while you laugh your head off.
“Stand-up comedy was always the domain of the male, until recently. Women have started to own stages all over the country, and this show is the first of its kind to hit an arena,” says creative director, Marita van Schalkwyk.
What makes the show even more special is that Whacked has assembled a team of brilliant women to produce and promote the show. “We are a largely female team, from the casting, PR, direction to performance – so when we say “bitches” we aren’t kidding,” says exec producer Taffia Keight.
“Sensitive people say that the term is derogatory – we feel that being a strong woman is not always a popular position but to make yourself heard in the world, sometimes you have to embrace the inner tiger rather than tame it.”
“Men are most welcome,” says headliner, Tumi Morake, “we don’t hate them, and we just agree that this time they should sit down and listen. Let us tell them what the person next to them is thinking, because they seem to be struggling to understand that. Bring your partner, guys, let us make you look good, while we look even better…”
“Bitches Be Back” 26, 27 February 2016. Big Top Arena, Carnival City. Booking at Computicket.
