To celebrate South Africa’s Freedom Day on April 27th, international soulful house music phenomenon, Black Coffee, will presented an optimistic new staging of his live orchestral show, Africa Rising™, on Soweto’s historic Freedom Square, where the Freedom Charter, a cornerstone of the nation’s constitution, was adopted in Soweto in 1955.
The show consisted of original Soulistic Music compositions from his albums Black Coffee, Have Another One, Homebrew and newer songs debuted at the 2011 Moses Mabhida Stadium Africa Rising live recording.
The live show once again featured a classical orchestra conducted by Brendan Jury along with live vocalists including Zano, Soulstar, Thiwe, Bucie, Tumelo, Toshi, Alexander James, Marissa Guzman, a special appearance by Black Moses of the Soul Brothers, Nathan Adams from Tribe(London) and the addition of material from Black Coffee’s original group, Shana, consisting of long-standing collaborators Demor and Shota.
The two hour live house music show, which debuted at Durban’s Moses Mabhida Stadium in 2011, has gone on to become a top selling live DVD and CD with multiple 2013 South African Music Award nominations.
Audiences were treated to a non-stop dance experience wrapped in trademark synchronized lighting and LED visuals, presented within a safety first professional event environment. The live show was supported by Culoe de Song, DJ Strat3gy, Sai & Ribatone and DJ Kabila.
