After great deliberation by MTV Base’s chosen panel, leader of the new wave, Blxckie continues to hold the crown as the Hottest MC

MTV Base Hottest MC 2022 made a comeback, with Paramount Culture Squad member, Tshego Koke heading the panel discussion once again. Koke is no stranger to the hip-hop community, his association with music and fashion has had a great influence on the South African hip-hop scene. He was joined by Marz Ambrosio, Misa Narrates, Uncle Partytime, French Fry, Kyeezi and DJ Fif Laaa. 

The discussion began with a heated conversation, dissecting what Hip-Hop is given the versatility found in South African music and how that can lead to confusion. When the bottom 5 of the top 10 MTV Base Hottest MC 2022 list was announced, it had fans on social media in an uproar as A-Reece was placed at number 6. The panel revisited the conversation, placing the rapper at number 5. Emtee who was placed at number 7 this year, took to twitter asking fans to share their tops on the top 5.

There’s no denying that 2022 was a year for Blxckie, K.O, Maglera Doe Boy and Nasty C. This is Blxkie’s second year holding the reigns for the number one spot. The likes of 25K and Big Zulu really cemented their place in hip-hop culture this year.
