In case you haven’t heard, The South African “it girl” Bonang Matheba has officially been verified by twitter thus making her the first black South African female celebrity to be acknowledged by the trendy global online social media network. Bonang who has over 255 000 followers on twitter is the second woman in SA to be verified after the Democratic Alliance leader Helen Zille, other South Africans who are verified on twitter are the country’s president Jacob Zuma, radio personality Gareth Cliff and comedian Trevor Noah. “I feel truly honoured and humbled by the news of being verified by twitter. I know it’s a small tick, but in the world of social networking, it’s a real big deal, meaning that I am clearly doing something great.” remarked Bonang.
