In some unexpected news, AKA took to Twitter to express how has not received a single cent from the release of his collaborative sneaker with International brand Reebok. Mgosi.co.za reports that there was no actual contract between him and Reebok for the release and the production of the SneAKA.
Can you believe they didn’t pay me a single cent for this? … not one cent. https://t.co/EgW8AKkXBA

AKA further explains that the only contract that exists is for his ambassadorship with the brand, “Only my contract as an ambassador. A contract regarding the #SNEAKA doesn’t even exist.”. Mgosi further reports that AKA expressed how he was left with no choice,
“At the end of last year, they (Reebok) told me they wouldn’t be renewing my contract because “the brand” wasn’t about the Reebok “classic” direction anymore … they were now geared towards selling gym clothes to women predominantly,” wrote AKA.
The AKA SneAKA with Reebok was a much-anticipated drop in South Africa. This collaboration made him one of the only artists in Africa to have a signature sneaker with an international brand. Only 600 pairs of the sneaker were produced, making this a grail and a rare find.
