Cassper Nyovest, pays homage to Kwaito legend Doc Shebeleza through a sample on his new banger Gets Getsa 2.0. Produced my Gemini Major the track oozes 90’s cool and is a great way to step into the warmer seasons.
The single dropped a few weeks ago to massive praise and criticism from fans and non-fans alike. But what would a Cassper Nyovest song be without both ends of the spectrum fighting over it right? He even says in the song: “They love and hate every song I play.” He dropped the video for the song today and even we have to say that they look dope.
The video is shot in the hood and has the elements that we appreciate and love about it. In fact, it has tons of nostalgia while still keeping some elements that we use in 2018.
The gents are dressed in classic pantsula gear and the ladies are thick and rocking bucket hats (ispoti). In the day time they are at the car wash with their Gusheshe’s and at night they are spinning the cars and having a street bash.
Cassper is in the hood with his friends, the Major League DJs, Riky Rick to name a few. The video was well shot and actually compliments the hype of the song. Even though it was expected that there will be Amapantsula and Gusheshe’s and thick babies with gang dance moves, the Gets Getsa 2.0 video is oddly satisfying.
It’s a glorious music video and we hope that Doc Shebeleza is honoured. Who would have thought that his legacy would have been carried by a Hip Hop artist in 2018?
