We are back with the year’s first installment of our celebrity news weekend recap. Let’s take a look at who made the news headlines this past weekend.
First off, we start with former child star and kwaito singer, Msawawa. Kuthwa the young man is planning a comeback with new music and a reunion with his former Skomplazi member, Vukani Khoza. According to the Sunday Sun, the singer managed to coerce Khoza into making a song with him and it seems like it worked as they now have a song they plan to release soon under Khoza’s African Child Productions.
“The song title is Bukuthi Unjani and we’re expecting to release it before Easter. Actually, I was his mentor, but we were young and people decided to make decisions for us,” he said. We can’t help but feel a little excited by this! We hope it’s fresh.
It hasn’t even been a month since the year has begun and some people are already caught in custody battles. Remember when the Sunday Sun reported that Uzalo actor, Kay Sibiya, had allegedly fathered Gagasi FM’s Zukiswa “Zookey Zarling” Vuthela’s child?
And also how he allegedly asked Vuthela to abort the child as he was in a serious relationship?  Well, the paper has come back with the paternity test and they prove that 29-year-old Sibiya is the father, but he is violently denying the claims. He is reported to be appealing the results as he doesn’t believe that they are legit. Tjo!
As if the news is not enough, we just fell off our chairs when we saw this. Sunday World reports that Sbahle Mpisane, also known as Itumeleng Khune’s ex, is said to be groomed to take over as presenter of Minnie Dlamini’s former show, Soccer Zone. Dlamini resigned from the show in October last year but it has also been said that she was fired because she didn’t have enough soccer knowledge.
Now the big question is, does Sbahle know more about soccer than Minnie? According to the publication, a senior sports producer at the SABC has confirmed that it’s true that Mpisane will be joining the show. “That information started filtering through in November last year, and I heard now in January that she is being trained to get ready to take over,” he is reported saying. All we can say is damn!
On to baby news! It is reported that DJ Euphonik and his bae, Aurelia Nxumalo have welcomed a baby boy into the world. The new mom is said to be beaming with joy and Euphonik couldn’t be happier. We wish them the best!
And in sad news, South African singer and jazz legend, Thandi Klaasen has died at the age of 86. Klaasen lost the battle to pancreatic cancer and passed away yesterday morning. The revered, award-winning singer has shared stages with world acts such as Roberta Flack and Patti LaBelle. We send our condolences to the Klassen family and friends.
