It’s a wonderful Thursday morning and we are waking up to the sounds of an internationally acclaimed South African born music master. Yes, Black Coffee has released his music video for the track Come With Me featuring Joburg-based vocalist Mque and we have to give him and his production team major respect for the product. The video was exclusively debuted on Revolt TV, owned by American musician and record label owner, Sean “Diddy” Combs, before its worldwide release on YouTube.
Since signing to US-based international record label Ultra Music in April, this is the first video to ever come out of the collaboration. The video was made in partnership with Smirnoff Sound Collective, the international electro-music platform and Black Coffee thanked them for making the video possible.
The song strikes an amazing balance between being international and still celebrating our South African heritage. The fusion of these two has made certain that Coffee pleases his current fans as well as appeal to a new kind of fan that will enjoy and admire the African inspired elements weaved into his music. He is staying true to himself and his sound.
The video was shot in New York and showcases three types of dance styles and celebrates them over a uniquely and unmistakable African baseline that only Black Coffee can pull off. The three up-and-coming New York dance crews come together to celebrate his new single at a Brooklyn warehouse party. The video has a distinct international quality about it. It is easy on the eye and the visuals of familiar sights such as the New York skyline are stunning. The dance styles that the dancers showcase differ from ballet to tap. Overall the video is relaxed and essentially celebrates what Black Coffee has come to be known for; good music that we all can dance to. And for that, we have to give him props.
The music video is released ahead of his next album that is expected later this year.
