Coke Studio has always been the show that brings you the dopest and most unexpected collabos with artist you were not anticipating. This month, the popular franchise returns with a new season and a completely new vibe.
Just in case you were not sure, yep Coke Studio SA and Coke Studio Africa have merged this season to maximize the reach of the show and the artists, wider exposure across the continent. “Generally countries operate within their own musical space and like their own musical taste, so a project like Coke Studio Africa is about trying to address that musical divide on the continent”, says executive creative director, Tim Horwood.
The entire season was shot in Kenya which is described as a buzzing cosmopolitan area, fitting for a show such as this. This season will feature budding and established artists from all across Africa; with some including Rwanda’s Bruce Melody, Nigeria’s Patoranking, Tanzania’s Alikiba and Kenya’s Khaligraph. We can also enjoy some of our own artists with Busiswa making a comeback this season and Amanda Black and Nasty C making their debut.
The season is set to be braodcast on 36 TV stations across 30 different countries with an anticipated audience of half a billion viewers. It is set to make its debut on South African screens this Saturday, 12 August at 18:05 on etv. Will you be watching?
