‘Wa Tshembeka,’ a Tsonga phrase meaning “You are faithful,” more than just a song, it is a heartfelt prayer and a tribute to God’s unwavering presence in our lives. The song’s sound is enriched by a masterful incorporation of live instruments, adding a dynamic and authentic layer to the musical experience. Resulting in a compelling testament to faith and resilience, brought to life through the unique styles of Cooper SA Small S.P, Tyler ICU and Jay Sax.
Cooper SA shares, “The features on this track came together naturally. Small is like a brother to me. I started the song from scratch and wasn’t entirely sure about it, so I reached out to Small for his opinion. He instantly said it was fire and brought Tyler and Jay on board. The creative process was special.”
‘Wa Tshembeka’ stands as a musical expression of gratitude, acknowledging God’s blessings amongst life’s challenges. Cooper SA adds, “The song is about thanking God for where you are and for what is yet to come. It’s about appreciating God’s mercy, no matter what you’re going through.”
Inspired by gospel music and his own church background, Cooper SA wanted to craft a piece that expresses something new from him within the Amapiano genre. “I wanted to tell a story through this song, and I’m very happy with how it turned out. ‘Wa Tshembeka’ is the lead single from my upcoming EP, which promises a diverse mix of soulful sounds, jazz influences, and straata sounds. I’ve named it ‘Ice Cream’ because it offers a flavour for every taste.”
