Da Capo Flies The South African Flag High By Winning At The DJ Awards In Ibiza
Published 2 years ago by

South African house DJ/Producer Da Capo has won the coveted Best Afro House DJ at the DJ Awards in Ibiza.

The vastness of House Music has proven difficult for accolades to be awarded to House Music artists according to their respective House sub-genres. But things are done differently at the DJ Awards in Ibiza, they categorize DJ/Producers by the respective sub-genres within the house music soundscape. There are fourteen DJ categories and eight music categories namely; Bass, Deep House, House, Melodic House & Techno, Progressive House, Tech House, Techno and Trance. And also features two new categories, Afro House and Deep Tech, plus 4 non-specific music genre categories; Newcomer, Breakthrough in association with Beatport and Electronic Live Performer and International DJ.

On Monday, 16 September Da Capo was crowned the Best Afro House DJ 2019 in a room filled with global House music contributors. Da Capo was up against world-class DJ’s and producers but still stood out from the rest. This win has solidified Da Capo as the global leading Afro House DJ that we’ve always known him to be.

Wow, I’m so nervous right now. I would like to thank the DJ Awards for the opportunity they gave me, thank you to all the fans, thank you to Soulistic Music and Hi Ibiza. Shout out to all the people who voted for me, thank you so much guys.

– said Da Capo as he collected his award in Ibiza, Spain.
