Wow can you believe that Simphiwe Dana is celebrating 10 Years in Afro-Soul Music this year? It seems just like yesterday when she won her first SAMA back in 2005, “Music has allowed to me voice my opinions about the world I live in, and I am just truly grateful that the continent has been so receptive to my sound and story” says Simphiwe Dana
Rising on the scene in 2004 with the release of her platinum-selling, award-winning debut Zandisile, Simphiwe Dana has firmly planted her place in the heart of South Africa’s Entertainment Industry. Throughout her 10 year career in music, Simphiwe Dana has collected 6 South African Music Awards (SAMA), 2 METRO FM Music Awards (Best Female Artist and Best Contemporary Jazz), 1 Avo Session Award in Europe (alongside Elton John who received The Lifetime Achievement Avo Session Award), a Metropolitan Eastern Cape Arts and Culture Award and a Pan South African Language Award.
On April 25th 2015 she will be celebrating her music journey through a concert at Bassline Joburg so fans will be treated to a collection of musical pieces that not only speak to the life and times of this pivotal afro-soul South African platinum selling artist, but also to an experience of the South African musical landscape within the past 10 years, with a mix of urban flavour.
