As fans witness this evolution, they glimpse not just a single masterpiece, but a series of ever-unfolding artistic expressions. My narrative is a vibrant symphony of creativity and originality, inviting everyone to join in the celebration of her ongoing legacy…
Wow.
In her endeavours, “Ney The Bae” weaves a narrative of a dynamic young black artist, a go-getter, and a fashion icon. And in what ways do you find the power or inspiration to constantly evolve or transform both as an artist and an individual?
I draw my power to evolve from both admired figures and my inner drive to constantly challenge myself. Inspired by icons like Aaliyah and Nicki Minaj, I seek to not just emulate but surpass their greatness. Looking within, I find a fire that propels me to push boundaries and redefine my limits.
Each spotlight moment becomes a chance to weave my unique narrative into the tapestry of greatness. With influences like Left Eye and Rihanna shaping my path, I embrace the opportunity to transform, grow, and create my own legendary story.

So, how do you continue to stay true to yourself while navigating the pressures of the industry?
As I, Anele Zondo, journey through the industry’s pressures, I hold onto the power of my past as both a shield and a wellspring of strength. My ability to embrace and draw from my history shapes my authenticity. Surrounded by a supportive circle of family, they anchor me in my true self.
Validation from external sources is secondary; my core belief in my worth and talent propels me forward. With a steadfast resolve and the unwavering support of loved ones, I navigate the challenges of the industry without losing sight of my identity.
Focusing on your new project, what experiences or emotions influenced VUKA and how did you use that energy to translate it into the music you are currently dishing out?
In Ney The Bae’s latest VUKA EP, the essence of awakening and evolution shines through. This project marks a pivotal moment in my musical journey, a culmination of my deep connection to transformative experiences. Drawing inspiration from my past as a ballet dancer and the healing power of music instilled by my late father, I infuse my music with soul-stirring energy. Each track in the EP represents a new chapter of growth and learning, a testament to my continuous evolution as an artist.
The “VUKA” EP serves as a powerful declaration of the readiness to embrace my full potential and chart a course toward musical greatness.
Out of curiosity, how important is “artistic direction” for you because you seem to be tapped in even into minor details such as your music roll-out?
My journey in the music industry as a female artist has been punctuated by challenges stemming from the lack of representation and empowerment for women in the field. Despite the prevalent disparities and the disconnect in conversations surrounding this issue, I remain steadfast in my resolve to carve my path.
Being a woman in the music industry demands a higher level of assertiveness and resilience, as words and actions are often perceived differently. Opting to navigate my career independently, I confront the harsh realities faced by female artists head-on, recognising the uphill battle that comes with breaking through barriers and proving one’s worth in a male-dominated industry.

What role does being vulnerable play in your songwriting process, and how do you balance between sharing enough and sharing too much about your life?
In my songwriting journey, vulnerability serves as a transformative force that fuels my creative process. Drawing from personal experiences and emotions, opening up through music has been a cathartic outlet for me. Striking a delicate balance between authenticity and privacy, I navigate the intricate terrain of sharing my life through lyrics.
Embracing vulnerability allows me to connect with my audience on a deeper level, offering a glimpse into my inner world and fostering a sense of intimacy through my music. By using songwriting as a means of self-expression and healing, I’m inviting listeners to journey alongside me, bridging the gap between the artist and the audience through shared experiences and poignant storytelling.
Looking ahead, when you lay on your bed and dream, what aspirations are you manifesting as an artist, both creatively and personally, and how do you envision your evolution not just in the music industry but globally too?
In my moments of dreaming and envisioning her future, I aspire to unlock my full potential both creatively and personally. With a deep-rooted desire to make a lasting impact and share my unique voice with the world, I dream of reaching new heights in my artistic journey.
Embracing my identity and heritage, I envision taking my music, style, and vision beyond borders to a global audience. Fuelled by a belief in my creativity, talent, and innate abilities, I’ve set my sights on becoming a global superstar, driven by a purpose to fulfil my destiny and leave an indelible mark on the world through my artistry.
