This Sunday, DJ Mahoota (real name Zane Sibika) will be celebrating the big 5-0 at a lavish day party with the Kalawa Jazmee family at Truth in Midrand. “I’m very excited about the event – I will be celebrating my birthday on Sunday with some of the industry’s biggest stars” he says. “Some of my favourite artists from all over the country will be performing. A variety of genres will be on offer – everything from house and kwaito to soul and hip hop.” The star studded line-up features big names like Oskido, Zonke, Claude, China, Ganyani, Mo Flava, Bobstar, Ururu and many more.
Mahoota rose to stardom when he began releasing slamming house anthems under the Vetkoek versus Mahoota moniker alongside producer Vetkoek. After many successful projects with endless hits such as, ‘Putuku’, ‘Qolo’, and ‘Bayete’, Mahoota has recently released and produced triple disk project, Dinaledi. Reflecting on the his 50 years and career “I have been overwhelmed by the love and support from the media and fans for my birthday,” says Mahoota “I have only achieved half of what I want to! I still have so much more music inside me!” Known for his flamboyant style, don’t expect anything less Sunday Mahoota says “Big preparations are under way for Sunday and of course I will be bringing out my Sunday best for the occasion.” Mahoota is known for making the crowd dance whenever he plays and Sunday will not be any different.
