DJ Maphorisa works with leading alcohol brand, Castle Milk Stout to produce an EP in celebration of Heritage Month
The award winning DJ, along with the brand, are set to launch the EP on the 18th of September. This is done in celebration of Heritage Day. Titled Clan Beats, the EP features a range of artists who are proudly African in their music and image.
This is not a far reach from what he has done in the past having worked with Uhuru, Mafikizolo, Wizkid among others- all artists who are authentic in their sound.
“Clan Beats as a narration which showcases how Africa’s heritage is celebrated through the personal journeys of South Africa’s finest artists.”
The EP features Sho Madjozi, KB Motsilanyane, Sjava and Thandiswa Mazwai. These artists will be accompanied by the voices of praise singers, Dr Sithole, Stoan Seate, Madala Kunene and Zolani Mkiva.
Speaking of the working on the EP, Maphorisa shared his excitement.
“I was really excited, it reminds us of our culture and stuff so I said, you know what, it’s been a while. Even me I’m from the urban side so it made me want to know about my culture so it really was a dope thing to be a part of.”
Clan Beats will be another notch on the projects that DJ Maphorisa has worked on this year. He recently released the successful Amapiano EP Scorpion Kings alongside Kabza De Small with hits including Vula Vala and Amantobazane. He also has a hand in Samthing Soweto’s highly anticipated album, Isphithiphiti which is scheduled to come out on the 20th September.
Clan Beats will be launched in Johannesburg on the 18th of September and the EP is set to be released on Heritage Day, 24 September.
Will you be looking out for it?
