South African DJ and entrepreneur Sibusiso Leope, also known as DJ Sbu is currently mourning the loss of his father, Mr Molahlegi Ludwick Leope who passed away on the 2nd of July 2017.
DJ Sbu wrote this heartwarming letter dedicated to his late father:
“Bra Ludwick” is no more. A leader in our home. An icon in my community. A fearless man. A men’s man. A grounded human being. A man of honour. A hope to many.
Its hardly been 24 hours. Then realise its the first 24 hours of the rest of my life I will have to get used to not having you around.
During the day I have to be strong in front people.
I try so hard to show that nothing is wrong.
They say men don’t cry, but last night tears rolled down my eyes non stop. They say time heals everything. But I don’t know how many more nights will tears flow. The pain is severe. It hurts. But I will learn to handle it. I’m a man now.
It was just so sudden you had to go.
People keep asking if I’m okay,
the answer is no but its yes I say.
I’m trying to be strong for my mom & family.
But it’s just not fair that you are gone.
I was not ready for a new start without you.
When Mama & I carried you out of your bed a few weeks back taking you to the hospital I didn’t know you were never coming back home.
You were a man of stature. A principled man. You brought me up with values I will never forget. You sacrificed to give me a better life. You sacrificed to give me an education. You made me the man I am today.
Your life I will celebrate. Your legacy I will uphold. Your surname I will take to the history books. I will make you smile up there in the heavens. I will dedicate the rest of my career to you.
When your granddaughter whispered good night into your ear, little did we know it would be your last. Little did we know she would be the last person to ever speak to you.
Thank you for everything. Thank you for your kindness. Thank you for your fatherly love & nurturing. Thank you for your bravery. Thank you for your teachings. May your soul rest in peace Papa.
He will be laid to rest this Saturday 8 July 2017.
