Fiesta Black, real name Thandi Nakampe Mokgoankgoa, came to stardom as a recording artist following the release of the most notable track in which she was featured titled Xigubu by Dj Ganyani back in 2013. The song was nominated for the Channel O music Video in the Most Gifted Dance Music Video category, MAMAs, SAMAs and Metro FM Music Awards for Song Of The Year (2014). It has also garnered more than 2 million views on YouTube- it’s safe to say that it went viral.
The song’s ethnic influences coupled with its dance and instrumentals won the hearts and feet of fans across Africa firmly sealing Fiesta’s stature as a performer. She then stole our hearts and kept those feet moving when she dropped hits such as Ngoma Ya Mina with the Revolution twins, Teka Famba with DJ Stavo, the controversial Thuntsha Lerole and her independent release Fihla.
Fiesta Black kept pushing boundaries of lyrical content making herself a fixture across South African radio and television music shows. And now in 2017 Fiesta Black is ready to make this the year of the “Fiesta”, making a powerful comeback with her brand new single Izinto produced by Mega Drums and featuring saxophonist Bongani Radebe.
Izinto is a tjoon! She comes back like she never left with a track that is set to pick up from her previous successes. The live elements in this song makes it stand out from what is out there right now and even the sound is uniquely hers so we cannot mistaken this come back for someone else’s. From the drums to the house groove to the saxophone elements, there is something vibey and dramatic about this song. Even the lyrical content is relevant to the time we are in now considering the fact that the Easter season is approaching. If you want to get ratchet and dance like you have never danced before then you should listen to this!
