Today, Amapiano sensation EeQue shares parts of himself to the world, as he releases his long and eagerly awaited album ‘The EeQualizer’. EeQue kick started the countdown to his highly anticipated album setting the tone with the release of his lead single ‘Hanyane Fela’.
Recognised for his catchy hooks “Dladla Dladla” on ‘Khekheleza’ with Focalistic, his standout verse on ‘Yahyuppieyah’ with Uncle Waffles and his globally acclaimed contribution to ‘Tshwala Bam’. ‘The EeQualizer’ is an album that reflects EeQue’s artistic journey and dedication to his fans.
“I’m beyond thrilled to finally give out a body of work that I put together. A part of me people get to experience. My fans have been anticipating this album and it’s all I hear about on my socials and even when I go perform. I aim to give people my best and show my creative ability through my music. I hope they enjoy listening to it half as much as I enjoyed making it for them.”EeQue share sentiments on the release of his album.
EeQue elaborates and gives a breakdown on the tracks featured on the album;
uMoya- A heartfelt ode of gratitude, thanking God for guiding him from struggle to global recognition and success. “uMoya is all about the spirit, I’m actually thanking my God for taking me out of struggle and making me travel the world and recognise my full potential. I am where I am today because of him”
Rekisa ka Pela- Born from a fun studio session with Focalistic, this track captures the carefree joy of their creative process. “Rekisa Ka Pela was done from a groovy moment where we came back from a show and Foca and I just sat in studio and recorded about fun, because we were having fun.”
uMgani Unjani- A reflection on betrayal, addressing a friend who wronged him and the subsequent realization of their true nature. “This song about a friend who did me wrong and now it all backfired on the friend. Sometimes in life we come across people who really just take from you and when you finally see their true colours they become nobodies to you”
Amasheleng- An anthem of perseverance and hustle, underscoring EeQue’s commitment to his grind despite challenges and detractors. “Amasheleng is about the hustle, because I’m always on my grind and people get happy when I don’t do well but that never stops me, so I just continue on my grind and hustle and just make my money.”
Jika- A celebratory track that expresses EeQue’s gratitude for the positive turn his life has taken this year, highlighting his personal growth. “My life this year took a complete turn in a great way and I’m expressing that in Jika. I just want people to look at the way my life has hit a complete 360 degrees and how grateful I am for this.”
uFunani- A commentary on the often superficial nature of relationships in the industry, questioning the intentions of those around him. “The culture of the industry is all about money. Girls and even friends we meet are hardly here for good intentions so on uFunani I’m asking the people in my life if they are here for a good time or a long time.”
Emoyeni- An energetic track inspired by the exhilarating feeling of progress, signaling EeQue’s readiness to advance beyond expectations. “When creating this album there was something in the air that was exhilarating me, something was rushing in my blood, I felt like people who didn’t get will get it eventually and catch me when I’m already ahead and that’s what I’m saying on Emoyeni.”
Skelem- A playful showcase of EeQue’s lyrical prowess and creativity, without a deep narrative behind it. “With Skelem it was just a play on words and showing pen game and creative ability, there’s no deep meaning or reasoning behind it.”
Thug Prayer- A powerful message to those who doubted him, affirming his right to success and his relentless drive to overcome obstacles. “On Thug prayer I’m basically talking to my enemies and people used to look down on me and saying that I deserve to be here, I hustled my way to the top and nothing stopped me can stop me.”
With ‘The EeQualizer,’ EeQue not only delivers a compelling musical experience but also invites the audience to join him on his journey of self-expression and achievement. The album is now available for streaming on all digital streaming platforms.
