DJ Fresh faces backlash for calling rape accuser a “pathological liar” and he’s instructed to “retract his false claims”

The family of the woman who laid rape charges against DJ Fresh has accused him of trying to tarnish her reputation. These allegations were made after he claimed a relative told him she was a pathological liar.

In a statement, the Madikizela family claim DJ Fresh, real name Thato Sikwane, falsely claimed that a family member of accuser Siphelele Madikizela told Sikwane that she was a pathological liar. Taking to Twitter, Fresh responded to a tweet by another user, when he said the woman’s aunt had called but refused to speak on the record.

The Madikizela family released a full statement addressing what they call slanderous claims made against their daughter.

The family wants to make it absolutely clear that at NO point did ANY family member call DJ Fresh to state such. The family is distressed at these false claims and rejects these with contempt. This is a clear example of slander and defamation of character to damage our daughter’s reputation, character and integrity,” the family said in a statement.

We will not sit back and allow the launch of a smear campaign and the public character assassination of our daughter in the attempt to hide from the glaring ugly truth,” the statement continued.

On Monday they issued a joint statement claiming the charges had been dismissed due to insufficient evidence.

The matter was indeed presented to the prosecutor. Upon perusal of all the evidence available in the docket, a decision not to prosecute was taken. There are no prospects of successful prosecution on the available evidence because the evidence is insufficient.” said the NPA’s Lumpka Mahanjana
