Flex Rabanyana REJECTS Vth Season Deal
Published 4 years ago by

When Vuzu reality hip hop show, The Hustle came back for a second season, we were besides ourselves with excitement. We were even elated when Flex Rabanyana won because in our minds, he was miles ahead from the get go. But now, the young rapper has announced that he will not be signing a deal with record label, Vth Season.

In a series of tweets, the Rabayeezy hit maker made the startling announcement to the shock and amazement of his fans. He started off by stating that “after much deliberation, I have taken a decision to NOT sign with Vth Season”. He further stated that he believes that independence in music is a big deal to him.

He also wrote: “This obviously means they won’t play my music as much on radio”, but he was quick to reassure his fans that he will go platinum with the help of the internet and “my people”.

He also gave a shout out to the radio stations who have already play listed his music and also to Cassper Nyovest for “showing us how it’s done”. Referring to the rappers rise to fame without a record deal and how he also gained recognition and love from his fans and managed to go platinum twice.

The fans were split with some showing massive support and reassuring Flex that with or without the record deal, he has their support. Others though that the rapper is foolish for rejecting a deal that one of the other contestants would gladly and unreservedly accept without any questions.

We had a little chat with Flex and asked him to give us some clarity and he had this to say: “It wasn’t a management deal with Vth Season, right. It was quite a contract between us. It was publishing… it was a 360 basically.”

He also added how Jay Z’s new album influenced his decision: “Jay Z just dropped 4:44 being the worst time for someone representing the streets to go and just put themselves in a 360.” He did add that he is grateful that African Star has his back concerning P.R and he found himself his own management team so that he could retain the rights to his music.

This comes less than a month since he was crowned the winner of The Hustle Season 2. What comes from this should be interesting and we’ll keep you updated. Don’t forget to share your thoughts with us!
