Januworry finally over, time to celebrate.

With the longest month of the year over, it’s time to celebrate the end of Januworry.

We have compiled a few gigs for you to attend this weekend. The biggest one is the sold-out Cotton Fest in Newtown on Saturday 1 February.

The people will be out in full force “badle ukotini” to celebrate with the biggest cotton eater in South Africa, Ricky Rick.

If you’re in the Cape Town over the weekend, go check out the ABANTU – The People exhibition, at Dyman Gallery in Stellenbosch.

This photographic exhibition about the people of South Africa will be on until 24 February.

On Sunday 2 February, Victoria Yards in Lorentzville, hosts its monthly installment of First Sunday.

On the first Sunday of the month, Victoria Yards’ resident artists open their studio doors, presenting an opportunity to meet the artists and get a look behind the scenes at their creative process.

The Victoria Yards complex is home to several prominent local artists including Blessing Ngobeni, Ayanda Mabulu, James Delaney and world-renowned photographer Roger Ballen, as well as contemporary art galleries like Daville Baillie GalleryAfropolitan Gallery, and Art Afrique, artisan workshops such as the Smelt glass studio and Hélène Thomas’ Yol Bijoux Nomades jewelry workshop and several fashion boutiques and design studios including Tshepo Mohala’s Tshepo The Jean Maker and Oscar Ncube’s Dry bone co.

Out in Pretoria, The Hangout PTA, will be in full swing at Silverlakes. Food, drinks, tattoos and games will be part of the hangout.
