We rarely come across female rappers who are worth their salt and at the same time, capture the spirit of the artform. Have you met rapper, Cazo?
Casline Hokai, better known by her stage name Cazo, is a female rapper, vocalist, songwriter, show jumper and a model. Hailing from a small, vibrant community named Riverlea, in the south of Johannesburg; Cazo gathered a liking in entertainment from age 13.
She began as a dancer and soon moved to writing and rapping her own songs with Soul, R&B and Hip Hop melodies. Soon after that she then found herself sharing stages with other fellow rappers like Siya Shezi, Nemza from the group Skwatta Kamp, Red Button and also DJ Walker.
Cazo’s music is different from what is popular in the public at the moment. Her style of rapping is definitely self-reflective and playful because she likes playing around with different flows on various beats. She sounds like a mix between Foxy Brown and Bamahadia; that’s how old school and refined she sounds. Plus she possess both sex appeal and lyrical capability.
Cazo was selected by an award winning film production company Life After Life to offer her vocals for a the soundtrack of a short film they produced called High Q which is due to release in June 2018. We look forward to more music from her.
