With the event simply starting out as a way to entertain customers in-store has now turned into a national phenomenon that aims to not only inspire but uplift emerging musicians through the platform.

However, this year’s Diesel Denim Friday will take place digitally given the Covid-19 pandemic restrictions and regulations. It will feature major names including the likes of Shimza,  Lamiez Holworthy, DJ Loyd from 5FM, King Sfiso from Ukhozi FM as well as Oscar Mbo who will all form part of the judging panel.

As the competition’s ‘Superhero DJs’, the above list of industry artists will be tasked with the monthly process of having to select a set of three rising DJ stars from different regions within South Africa being Durban, Johannesburg, Pretoria and Cape Town. From there, the mixes produced by the contestants will be streamed through a DDF website where the public will be allowed to vote for their favourite. After that, the panel will then select a finalist from each region where they will then proceed to compete to win the grand prize of R50 000, industry mentorship as well as the opportunity to produce a track with Shimza.
