Bafethu, 2017 came at us in so many different directions that it was hard for us to keep up for a minute there. So much music dropped between the 1st of the month and now that we couldn’t cover all of it. But because we are who we are, we are bringing you the freshness- in case you missed it.
First off, we have to give major props to the Miss Pru for giving us the anthem of the year in the form of chart topper, Ameni. The DJ pulled through with another heat last year when she featured of her Ambitiouz famo in the joint. Still keeping with the trend, she dropped another joint featuring Emtee, Fifi Cooper, Saudi, Sjava and the new Ambitouz Entertainment arrival, Sindi and Flame. The track is entitled Phumelela.

Emtee also has a new joint out with Flame titled Shots To The Brain. The track has a dope vibe to it and this kid sounds like a young Desiigner. What a way to introduce him to the masses with this track- it’s a straight banger. Melikes.

Another great surprise was Nasty C’s track Golden. The Young King pulled through and dropped this unmastered master piece about wanting the best in life. The standard of the bars, flow and beat is up there with the best that the kid has dropped these past couple of years. Bad Hair is doing amazingly well, the video for Pressure is hella tclean and he’s out there working with the best possible creatives- we are expecting great things this year man.
Blaklez is up there with the best for me- great lyricist and storyteller. He dropped a dope ass song called Ugly (Ho Lokile) featuring a clip from the one of the legendary Tshepo Tshola’s tracks. The song is self-reflective and the rapper gives props to his roots and where he comes from. This is a nice one when you want to get away from the bustle of the hustle and recharge.
DJ Vetkoek vs Mahoota also dropped a banger to keep us in the holiday mood and of course dancing. The track is titled Thando Lok’dlala and it features heavy drums and Maskandi elements. On this one they feature vocalist Nokwazi, Drumatic Boys and Black Motion.

Super producer and rapper, Tweezy, also dropped a banger in the form of Jumaji, the second single taken off his EP Fuego . The track has received a thumbs up from the online community and it’s no surprise because that baseline is on another level. Sidebar: I loved the gun shot soundbites, so gangster!

Okmalumkoolkat also linked up with The Brother Moves on a track titiled Ubhuti Ontsundu taken off his album, Mlazi Milano. This track is so dope, I have no further words to describe. This track is about the story of the rise and fall of a dude. Deep stuff. The Brother Moves On brings hectic voodoo magic on this- it’s amazing.
