When we first hear the name Nutty Nys, one song immediately jumps to mind and that is the 2009 smash it Nka Mo Dira. To most of us, the could have been one of the first Provocative that we listened to and dance to at house parties of our times.
Nka Mo Dira quickly put Nutty Nys on the House music radar and we expected to see more from the artist but nothing ever came that hit the streets like Nka Mo Dira ever did. To most, he might have just fell off the face of the earth and stopped making music entirely.
But Nutty nice has been an intricate part of the South African music scene, bobbing and weaving in and out of the limelight. But still having a strong footing the culture. Being a label owner, and also being part of the large culture shifts in radio with Yfm Nkosinathi Mbelu better known by his music moniker Nutty Nys is no stranger to what good music sounds like. And this is something he is Emphasizing in his latest releases.
What caught us by surprise is the sound the emanating off the headphones which was unexpected. The last we heard from Nutty Nys his sound was nothing like what we are hearing now. He has ventured into the mature realm of Deep house, a subgenre that is synonymous with being a timeless genre and the true embodiment of house music. This deep house influence is present almost a tangible element in songs such as “Truth is” and “Presence”.
We might have caught wind of his new music recently but Nutty Nys his been releasing singles for the past couple of months now. Even though his releases are not frequent they do pack a punch behind them.
