Published 1 year ago by

She is the first person with albinism to cover Vogue Portugal.

Congratulations are in order for South African lawyer turned model, Thando Hopa, who just made Mzansi very proud. Thando became the first woman with albinism to cover the Portugal Vogue magazine.

I’m emotional, because I see progress and get to form part of a progressive story and narrative. I got to a place in my career where I appreciate every specimen of my body and knowing that wherever I go, my existence, the way it is, has always and will always be enough

She says.

This is not the first magazine cover that Thando has also been on, she has also been featured on Marie Claire, Forbes Life Africa and Glamour South Africa alongside rap sensation Nadia Nakai as well as Asanda Sizani.

Furthermore, Hopa alongside other well-known beauty influencers like Mihlali Ndamase will take part in the first annual Beauty Revolution Festival, taking place at the Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg on the 6th and 7th of April 2019.

Here are some interesting facts about Thando Hopa:

  • Hopa started modeling when she was approached by designer Gert-Johan Coetzee at a shopping mall in Johannesburg back in 2012.
  • Thando was named the face of Audi in 2017.
  • Thando became a Vichy Capital Soleil ambassador in 2014. The product produces sunscreen creams for people with albinism.

Congratulations Thando!
