Job description
Associated Media Publishing is looking for a junior content producer, whose main responsibility is to produce accurate, interesting and engaging features, snippets and promotions, and scan magazine materials as requested. The junior content producer needs to keep abreast of all that’s happening across the World Wide Web that may be of relevance to the brand.
The succesful incumbent will need to do the following:
1) To write original material and, when necessary, promotional copy, ensuring that it is:
• factually accurate and grammatically correct
• fresh, lively, reader-friendly and cliché free
• reflective of the brand’s readership
2) To contribute to the brand’s online presence as a whole by:
• submitting story ideas
• keeping staff informed of relevant trends and developments
3) To make sure all content is formatted and uploaded into the CMS on or before the allocated deadline.
4) To engage readers through social media.
5) To research both local and international news, the magazine and digital industries, content ideas and multimedia opportunities
6) To research stories thoroughly and ensure that the best possible sources/professionals are interviewed.
7) To formulate strong relationships with professionals in different fields (sources), to build up a solid list of contacts.
8) To represent the brands at functions and launches.
9) To have an interest in books, music, movies, fashion, restaurants and socialising – and to be able to write reviews/ reports on these.
10) To localise or expand copy from other sources by doing the additional research necessary.
11) To scan magazine materials as and when requested.
12) To submit multimedia ideas as well as create multimedia material when requested.
Requirements
1) A tertiary journalism qualification
2) At least two years’ experience working in an online environment
3) An understanding of digital content
4) Excellent language skills
5) Good time-management skills
6) Full of ideas
7) Energetic, enthusiastic and creative
8) A valid driver’s licence
