The 30-minute show, which will air every Saturday at 14:00, will take viewers on a journey around the country in search of South Africa’s hidden soccer talent. Culminating into an 18-men squad, this team of ordinary footballers will get lifetime opportunity to take on the champions of the Nedbank Cup. Hosted by vivacious sports personality Lebo Mabena, the 12-part series will also feature prominent South African soccer greats Mike Mangena, Khabo Zondo, Owen DaGama and Shakes Mashaba as selectors.
“We are really excited to launch the Ke Yona Making The Team TV series and its debut on SABC 1. The series features nine provincial trials and tribulations of bidding soccer stars as they progress from the tryouts, bootcamp and final selection of the Nedbank Ke Yona Team. “SABC 1 has a rich history of uncovering young Mzansi talent and providing them with a platform to showcase their natural competence. We are excited to partner with Nedbank in this venture and see great future soccer personalities being discovered through it,” says Vukile Madlala Channels Head of Publicity.
