In her tribute she spoke of how fond she was of Mpura and how he had encouraged to process her emotions and use those dark feelings to push forward.
“Mpura is one person who gave me an opportunity to work in the studio. At that time, I wasn’t in a good space”, she says in her speech at the funeral. She contines that when she told Mpura that she couldn’t sing, he encouraged her to use the music to push through. “Whatever you are feeling, you should feel through it in the song,” she mentions.
Lady Du gave a heartfelt goodbye to the Amapiano star in a brief rendition of the song they did together, Umsebenzi Wethu. The guttural farewell put into context how much we have lost as a country. And received rave reviews on social media.
Killer Kau on the other hand was laid to rest on Sunday, August 15.
