Lemon & Herb Adding Flavour to House Music
Published 3 years ago by

It is no secret that House music was born out of the culture of dance and pop music. The genre has spread like wildfire since it’s inception and we just love the direction that the SA music scene is taking it. Which begs the question, how do you like your House musicians? Hot, medium or Lemon & Herb? We like ours in the form of three men who are making sure that they will never be forgotten through their music.

Lemon & Herb are a trio of House producers and DJ’s who comprise of Don Jobe, Skhumbuzo Radebe and Thamsanqa Ntintili. The KwaZulu Natal born young men are passionate about the art of producing music and listening to their sound, one picks that up.

They met while still in varsity back in 2005 but only released their very first single in 2010 which was remixed by renowned American producer, N’dinga Gaba.

Although their music is predominantly produced in Xhosa and English, they are intent on producing music that is relatable to everyone who listens to it. Through their label Mixed In Motion they released an EP called Lazarus Missions in July 2016 and a single called How To Do This Thing was released in November 2016, which is now available on iTunes and Google Play to listen and download.

Their sound is striking; they make deep house music with an upbeat and often Afro jazzy feel to it. They are not afraid of experimenting with deep and haunting sounds and also maintain the pulsating rhythms and hypnotizing syncs. They also work with fresh, up and coming vocalists who help them change and mold their sound to bring the best in their collaboration.

House music lovers can catch them at the second annual Sbusiso Leope Education Foundation (S.L.E.F) benefit concert on the 4 March at Moriting Park in Tembisa from 10am- 6pm for only R150 per general ticket and R1000 for VIP tickets.

Lemon & Herb is passionate about promoting equal education opportunities to South African young people who have achieved good marks in matric, which is why 100% of the proceeds from this concert will go towards assisting these students with tertiary education fees.

Link up with them on their Twitter and Facebook as well as Soundcloud for more on their music.
