What do you get when you put Khanyi Mbau, Tshepo Maseko, Mara Louw, Nyembezi Kunene and Bongani “Ngozi” Gumede in one TV series? Drama! a whole lot of drama! This June, Mzansi magic launches its newest Lokshion Bioskop mini series “Like Father Like Son”, starting the 25th June 2013 at 21h30 on Mzansi Magic channel 161 (DSTV). It stars Tshepo Maseko as Themba Sibeko, as a wayward Pastor’s son who has to ascend to the Pastoral role when his father, A.J Sibeko, passes away; much to the dismay of his studious and very religious brother, Malusi Sibeko, who was also eyeing the pastor seat. The series follows the whirlwind of events that surround a party loving man of the cloth and a dejected sibling who’s wife, Sindi Sibeko, played by Khanyi Mbau, adds to his troubles by being less than a noble wife. Mara Louw plays the mother of the two feuding sons and the widow of A.J Sibeko, the deceased leader of the church.
Other characters in the mini series include, Bra Eezy, a character who will stay in the audience minds as a ruthless night club owner who also wants in in the church “business” that his “friend”, Themba Maseko, now runs. This Bra Eezy role is played by Bongani Gumede, well know for his excellent acting ability. Another screen veteran in the series is director of Emzini wezinsizwa” and experienced actor, Nyembezi Kunene. He plays the uncle in the family and his appearances in the series always trigger drama and intrigue.
Created by award winning Producer, Thokozani Nkosi, also features a fair amount of gospel music, with gospel stars Lungisani Ntuli, Nqobile Ngidi, Mthokozisi and Malusi Ndimande making musical appearances in the series. Tune in every Tuesday at 21h30 from the 25th June 2013 for five straight weeks.
Club 808 Comes To An End!
The end of an 808 era. The word is out, ETV’s popular music show Club 808 is reaching an end as they are about to stop production for good which means that the show will no longer air on ETV. The show is set to officially wrap up production on the 30th March 2017, after seven years of being aired. It does come as a bit of a surprise that the show is coming to an end, however, the ending was not abrupt. Rumors have surfaced before of the show coming to an end after Boity Thulo said her goodbyes in 2017.
