Ambitiouz Entertainement got themselves a good one when they signed the undeniably talented vocalist, Cici. They didn’t even waste any time; the singer just dropped her debut with the label titled Iqiniso.
If you have been in touch with the world around you, then you will know about the turbulent and unstable relationship between Cici and her former record label boss, Arthur Mofokate. She details the depths and dips of her relationship on Iqiniso to give us a perspective on what we could not see.
Iqiniso is as explosive as it is raw; Cici shows off her wounds and scars in this deep song where she asks “what is the truth?”. She sings about wanting an apology, some sort of acknowledgement for her broken heart. “Look at me look at what you’ve done. I guess you’ll say it ain’t your fault. You’re just sorry you got caught. Why you gotta do me so wrong?” Damn! This line also got us into her state of mind: “Click click, I pull out the gun. You broke my heart you son of a gun. In my head I am so far gone. Baby I’m a woman scorned”.
Cici’s vocals on this are extraordinary! They are both captivating and controlled even though she is singing about a dark and painful experience. She makes you feel every word and it’s truly touching! The minimal instrumental also compliment her voice and the heavy subject matter.
