Trap music is what is hot right now, you cannot deny that. More artists are either moving to making music that has that trap signature sound or modifying their sound to make it resemble the popular genre. One of those artists is ShabZi Madallion. Known for his unique rap style and look, ShabZi Madallion, real name Leshabe Mpho Rampedi, is a rapper who is best known for his electrifying performances, unique sound and hard-hitting lyrics.
He was featured on the Vuzu hip hop show, The Hustle. He came second, but not deterred, he decided to continue making music. After receiving advice from industry insiders, the rapper has decided to divert his sound and put a “conventional” spin to it.
He released his first major project titled “Insane” (EP) in 2016 which includes the popular singles “Dalli’s Out” and “We all smoke” which continues to enjoy airplay on regional and national radio stations such as 5FM. This was preceded by a number of other notable offerings such as the “Mad Lion EP” and “Dalli Remixes” mixtape. His freestyle release “9 to 5 (It’s Crazy)”, which he released in the year 2015, enjoyed thousands of hits/plays on numerous platforms.
He just came out with a new track titled, “Views”. The track is about how important perspective is in terms of how we put our lives out there to get likes and views. Especially to all the rappers out there.
The beat, produced by Blass, is hella fresh and when ShabZi jumps on it, it makes it almost seem like he is mocking the trap genre. Not that he does, his sound is too sophisticated and his lyrics too nice to be on this beat. It is quite refreshing to hear actual content on the joint, as opposed to the sounds that most rappers think trap is about. He does, however, flow nicely on this.
The track gives a lot to think about, not only for artists, but for everyone. It is a narrative on the importance we as a country have placed on affirmation by others. Are you currently living your life for the views?
