There is nothing as refreshing as finding raw talent that is not overexposed but have so much clout and worth that you wish they were all over billboards and radio shows. Meet Tia Black, the next big thing!
Born and raised in Cape Town, Tia Black began writing her own music before the age of 12. Being a pastor’s daughter and having her roots strongly grounded in gospel music meant that Tia is destined to grow into South Africa’s most exciting new artist. When she was 18, she was regional runner up in EMI’s “Backstage Superstar Search” after which she took a hiatus from the recording industry and built a reputation as a dancer.
After catching the eye of SAMA-nominated producer, she signed up in 2012. Her debut single Crusader received major airplay on radio stations across SA creating the buzz for what is the most exciting new female artist to come out racing.
Other singles currently available on iTunes include La Dolce Vita featuring George Avakian, Homeless Love and the ballad, Un-Promised. The singer/songwriter has worked with South Africa’s most talented including Jody Williams, Miss Kay, Slikour, Jae, George Avakian, Slikour, Kwesta and Naima McClean to name a few.
Her latest offering, Paper is hella fresh and showcases her voice, which is smoky, powerful and undeniably bold. In Paper she sings about not the type to fall in love and she asks the guy not to trust her because she is not about that life. The brutal honesty in this joint is actually quite refreshing and shows us another side to the singer.
