Hilarious South African comics Loyiso Gola and Riaad Moosa are heading off to Montreal this month to participate in the legendary Montreal Just for Laughs (@just_for_laughs) comedy festival. The two comedy heavyweights will be performing a number of standup gigs at well-known comedy venues in the city between 20-24 July including Club Soda, Comedyworks and Comedy Nest.
Comedy Central is sponsoring Moosa, aka “the comedy doctor” to attend the world famous standup festival, which attracts more than 1.25 million people, while Gola is looking forward to his second season at the event after Comedy Central (DStv channel 122) sponsored his 2012 trip to Montreal. Gola’s brand of frank, observational humour went down so well with the festival crowd that this year the festival invited him back!
Commented Loyiso Gola, “I’m really excited to be attending the Montreal Just For Laughs Comedy Festival for the second time. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience last year and with the acts on the line-up, I can see it being another great festival this year. With many thanks to Comedy Central Africa – I’m really looking forward to attending with Riaad Moosa and given that Trevor Noah is also taking part, it will certainly make things more exciting!”
Joked Riaad Moosa, “Thanks to Comedy Central for sponsoring me during Ramadaan while we’re fasting. I think that’s why they chose a Muslim comedian…they’re going to save the budget on food. I’m so excited about the festival: I hope they understand my Cape Town accent…but if they don’t, I’ll use a Cape Town swear word on them!”
