Brunette Bianca Mlambo aka Lumkah is a 24 year old up and coming artist, in the broader spectrum of the word. The musician, dancer, model and poet has just added acting to her accolades. This is thanks to the role that she portrays in Mzansi Magic’s latest dance series “Isipantsula” which is due for release as early as May. Lumkah is still in production, playing a rather determined orphan whose passion is dancing and she’s determined to succeed in life through dance.
This role is not far off from the real Lumkah. Her talent emerged at the tender age of 8 when she joined a dance group from KZN. They specialized in local streetdancing and performed at local events and school concerts. Naturally, her parents were sceptic, as she was only in Grade 2 but once she saw her determination and she started winning local beauty pageants, Lumkah’s mom gave her blessing to pursue a life/career in entertainment.
Her exceptional talent and academic ability saw her being given the privilege to enroll at Inkamana High School, one of South Africa’s best Academic Boarding Schools on a scholarship and she got to go perform in Mozambique with the senior school choir, while still a junior. From there, she joined various dance groups where they performed at various entertainment events, rallies and campaigns.
Post matriculation in 2006, she was accepted at the Mbongeni Ngema Academy where she studied Performing Arts and Communication Skills. During her time at the academy, she was scouted by Bheki Dlamini as a dancer and that was the birth of her involvement with Bongi Dube as her dancer. While touring with Bongi Dube, she also took some time to nurture her music career by performing at small intimate venues to gain confidence of performing as a musician. In 2009, the well-known keyboard player and producer Sphesihle Mngwengwe took note of this extraordinary talent and got Lumkah into studio to record an album. Unfortunately, Durban was not the place for her to get a recording deal. She decided to work and feature on other artists’ projects until she was ready and settled in terms of where she wants to be as an artist. She worked with the likes of DJ Gukwa, nhlanhla sibisi, Chinaman, Websta, Jub Jub , Sphiwe Mtshali to mention a few and she also did a remix with the American DJ, J Cole and their collaboration features in his current mixtape.
After graduating in Business Management at Durban University of Technology , Lumkah took the biggest leap in terms of her career by relocating to Joburg. She signed up with African Child under the guidance of Vukani Khoza, who became her mentor and manager. This helped her to acquaint herself with the likes of Big Nuz, Bricks, L’Vovo and Morale to mention a few.
Because her new home African Child couldn’t accommodate all of her talents and dreams, she kept looking for greener pastures.
Even without a recording deal, she has started recording and perforning some music from her working album simply titled 1st Love. This is a combination of afro pop, poetic house and dance inspiration.
Not one to settle for mediocrity, as she doesn’t see herself to be anything but above average, she’s still on the hunt to find the best recording deal.
With her striking looks, gorgeous body and humble personality, there is no doubt that she is to take the entertainment industry by storm.
