Mbali Soga has been appointed Beauty Editor of Grazia South Africa, the world’s number one fashion and news weekly magazine. Grazia South Africa will be celebrating its first birthday on shelf in mid-May and it has proven a hit with young up-and-coming fashionistas, trend setters and those in the know when it comes to all things fashion and beauty related.
“What’s not to love and be excited about South Africa’s first and only weekly fashion magazine?” Soga says. “I joined the team on launch as the Fashion Editor, but I’ve slowly gravitated towards the beauty section during the last year. I see huge potential for this this section of the magazine, especially because South Africa has such diverse beauty .”
“Grazia is always on the go and the demands of a weekly deadline are constantly changing, just like the beauty trends Grazia is going to blow our readers away with some of the most incredible beauty trends and the best advice, not to mention keeping them up to date with everything going on in international markets. Plus, let’s not forget about all those beauty treats! The best thing is that we’re in your hands every Friday when Grazia’s brand-new issues go on sale, so you’re never without your favourite fashion and beauty read!”
While she studied Journalism at the University of Johannesburg, fashion and beauty have always caught Mbali’s eye. She began her career as Fashion Editor at True Love Babe, before moving to the position of Fashion Editor at True Love. There she honed her skills and talents both in writing and the beauty industry, before taking over at Cosmopolitan magazine in the role of Fashion Editor. When Grazia was launched in South Africa, Mbali’s interest was piqued and she took on the position of Fashion Editor, bringing an exciting new feel to the magazine.
“We are so delighted with Mbali’s appointment. Her experience in the world of fashion and journalism means she’s that hard-to-find (but undeniably perfect) mix of style and words, making her a great choice to take Grazia’s beauty ethos into its second year. Under her direction, readers and advertisers can expect an exacting attention to detail and to what’s new – whether on counter, off the catwalk or from our legendary street style photographers who are snapping trends as they are happening in New York, London, Paris, Milan and right here in South Africa.”
