Nomthandzo Mahlangu, better known as NOM, is a vibrant 20 year-old singer and songwriter who has delved into the genre of Afro-soul. She is highly driven and proves that beauty with brains is the in thing; she is completing her first year law degree.

NOM began her career in 2012 when a friend heard her sing and was impressed with her voice! Although a career in music was not in her future plans, in this short space of time she has managed to work as a backing vocalist and shared a stage with award winning artists.

She dropped her single, New Kind Of Feeling, featuring legendary Jazz musician Jimmy Dludlu late last year. She even got a co-sign from the Jazz guitarist. New Kind Of Feeling entered the market with a number 1 spot on iTunes SA and has been played on a daily basis on selected SABC stations and community radio stations.

The presence of Award winning Jazz guitarist Jimmy Dludlu’s guitar elevates this jazz infused dance track and makes it special. NOM’s vocals are also quite refreshing on this and coupled with the instrumental beat, she cannot be stopped.

Her debut single, Uthingo, was released some time ago and it is described as “an anthemic and uplifting song of hope that has a mid-tempo beat driven by piano and guitar”.

In June 2016, she shot her reality show pilot in New York and recorded part of her debut album there. She brings a new sound which fuses all the music genres and completes it with a coy Afro flavour. Her unique voice is echoic and emotive.

Her debut album, LOVE, is 12 tracks strong and it is now available on iTunes.

You can link up with NOM on her Facebook and Instagram.
