Published 3 years ago by

We love it when ladies are outchea doing the most and we seem to feature the most interesting and talented artists on our platform. Today we profile accomplished and celebrated Afro Dancehall DJ, Mystikal Ebony.

DJ Mystikal Ebony is a South African-based DJ, writer and poet who is based in Johannesburg and she is a DJ worth watching out for. DJ Mystikal Ebony is popularly known in the Afro Beat, Reggae, dancehall, Dub Drum and bass and Jungle music circles in South Africa.

Her style of music is not genre specific as she comfortably moves between music from different countries and eras. Her African Summer 13-track Afro Dancehall Riddim is to feature artists from 5 different countries and the first track from that album is Shokoloza. Shokoloza features Superstar M.E and Scooby Nero.

Mystikal Ebony began her music in 2004 while she was in university. She hosted her own radio show on VOW (Voice Of Wits) for two years and when she decided that she wants to take her career path seriously, she entered a DJ competition hosted by local based Reggae sound system from Malawi called, Flames of Fire. She achieved 2nd place in that competition and that solidified her passion for her craft.

Since then she has accomplished feats that are worth to be celebrated especially considering the industry she is in. In 2015 her mixes featured monthly on one of South Africa’s national radio station 5FM. She has opened up for many notable acts including Jamaican stars Anthony B, Lucianio, Fantan Moja, Capleton, Sizzla, and Konshens and featured as an international act at festivals such as, Bushfire in Swaziland, and Reggae Sun-splash in Cape Town.
