It’s not every weekend that you see the one hit wonder kwaito superstar Mgarimbe who is popularly known for his 2006 hit song “sister Bettina” being booked for an event in Sandton which targets urban youth so I was particularly excited about attending this gig. Mgarimbe performed at the first annual 4Play Fest which took place at Innesfree Park in Sandton on the 5th of October and boy did he bring the house down, people enjoyed his performance so much that he actually had to perform the song twice! Even though it wasn’t packed, the few hundred that attended had a good time. The event was hosted by MTV Base presenter Nomuzi Mabena who twerked for us on stage and repertoire’s Larryngitis. There were performances by Khuli Chana, Black Motion, Cassper Nyovest, Brickz and the Deejayz were Capital, Speedsta, Major League, Dimplez and FA1. The event was more or less like pop bottles but with less people, there was a jumping castle, beer garden, photo booth, mechanical bull as well as a gaming corner.
